Introduction
When Eagle Cut 2 released, there was a long list of things I wanted involved in it. Some of it is still on it’s way, and most of it shipped when we introduced Eagle Cut 2 at SEMA Show 2023.
This was one of the things on my list: better updates about what’s changed in each version of Eagle Cut. We had a list inside of the app you could check, but it was just one bullet point for each item. With the more developer’s blog style of structure, I can finally dig into what’s changed, providing a bit more detail to each item. And, often, I can explain why it changed.
And, sometimes, I can give updates on potential future releases.
Changes
New Reporting For Monthly & Year End
One customer request has been to provide a better breakdown for purchases in Eagle Cut. Sure, you could just dig through your credit card transactions for that tax year and do it that way, but that’s pretty time consuming. Now we have a new button: “View Purchase Report”
This pulls up your entire purchase history and breaks it down for you:
This is out of my test account I use for development so most people would have a bit higher totals for 35 plots in a month.
This provides two totalizations: first, you’ve got the monthly breakdown, and below that you’ll find a second breakdown that’s the total for each year. That should make a few folks tax-time work a little easier.
Clarified Refund Policy
Also in there you can see a clarification right under the “View Purchase Report” butt:
Refunds are only available for up to 7 days after purchase date.
Anything past 7 days no longer has a button to request the refund. A lot of this has to do with the new Eagle Cut Template Store where we close the books for 3rd party template producers at the end of each month. Then, we give it 7 days to make sure there’s no refunds that need to be applied to their account. After that, another 7 day waiting period for all card transactions to pay out, then we send payments to the template producers.
Slightly Better Launch Speed
Eagle Cut 2.2 loads just a bit faster than previous versions – a couple of optimizations under the hood helps reduce the amount of time waiting at startup.
Upcoming
All upcoming items are considered to be potential release items until they are actually released. In other words: just because you saw it here doesn’t mean for certain it’s going to be in the next (or any) upcoming release.
Mac Build
The Mac version is getting a major overhaul, but should be done “sometime soon”.
Font Fixes
Someone reported that the Eagle Cut provided fonts (Bow for Eagle Cut is an example that appears in the fonts dropdown.)
